What is Supreme Release Yoga?
Supreme Release Yoga [SRY] is a gentle approach to asana rooted in the tantric understanding of the body as a sacred field of the yogic journey.
The practice I teach at Hidden Yoga, SRY, is a yogic practice that is deeply therapeutic and healing. At the physical level, it methodically and gently works to decompress and release long held spinal and muscular tension. And when working within the realm of the spine, the other layers of your being open up. This release has a profound impact on our bodies, our emotions, and our minds, with the potential for body healing, life transformation and inner awakening.
Gentle and deep, accessible and advanced, SRY is a slow and inward oriented yoga practice.
It is especially beneficial for people with hypermobility, back and joint pain, busy lives, depletion, emotionally demanding occupations, spiritual seekers, and more. We let go of the hustling, grinding, and pushing of “regular life” and instead take on the inner attitude of a yogic seeker: opening ourselves for the sake of being available to deep and timeless wisdom.
Go Within
A SRY practice is devoted to the inner experience. This is yoga that is tending to the deepest layers of your body, not a surface level kind of thing.
Advanced yoga isn’t a matter of how hard you can work, how far you can bend, or how much you can sweat- but rather, your capacity to turn inward.
Students are often amazed at how something that looks so simple can be so profound. The poses in a SRY practice are helping you to truly let go, which is a bliss like no other!
What does “therapeutic yoga” mean?
Upholds the primary purpose of yoga- inner Self recognition
Utilizes propping to support the body and uphold alignment
Inward oriented and not achievement based
Resolves and heals patterns of pain & tension
Supports a deep process of letting go
Classes are created with ayurvedic principles and the sacred architecture of the body in mind
Settles the mind as a means for awakening, transformation, and healing
Welcomes the whole person to the practice
In my own experience, this practice is best understood when you get to try it. So if you’re curious, this is your invitation to join me for a class and experience for yourself what SRY offers.
This approach to yoga, SRY is founded by Kaya Mindlin, under whom I am a direct student learning these practices, and how to teach some of them.
experience yoga asana as a nectar
“I have referred people to Sonia again and again and it’s always for her kindness and integrity above ALL. There is a pureness of her heart that transcends words, and I think this is the cornerstone of Sonia’s work, what sets her apart. She sweeps her students up in unconditional love.”

In the Vedic viewpoint, the spine is the axis of the spiritual journey, the pathway of prana and the realm of kundalini shakti. It is where we go to drink the nectar of rejuvenation, and can abide in the sacred fires of illumination. This practice is an accessible kind of magic, taking you deep within the majesty of your inner being. We make a sacred pilgrimage within to discover the Self of the self, a journey rooted in the radical act of love as a means to truth. We remember, “yoga teaches you to love yourself, starting with the body“. (Pujya Swami Dayananda)

“As someone who practices yoga I was grateful to finally be guided through an asana that wasn't founded in the betterment of my body or mind, but instead my spirit. It was something I was so hungry for but didn't realize until I arrived. Thank you for creating such a beautiful, sacred and safe space for this experience of learning. My curiosity has been sparked and I am so looking forward to more classes with you.”
