A day of retreat, devotion, and wisdom…

Sanctuary of Sweetness is inspired by the incredible stories of Hanuman, the beloved Hindu monkey God. Throughout the retreat we’ll learn more about his adventures, and the incredible wisdom of his stories and devotion!

Our day includes:

  • Enjoy gentle and restorative yoga practices. Physical postures are taught in a way that encourages inner stillness, softening, and rejuvenation.

  • Immerse yourself in yoga’s deep ocean of wisdom. I’ll be sharing my favorite stories of Lord Hanuman, and together we’ll explore how they can directly impact and transform our daily lives.

  • Meet the residents! We’ll receive a guided tour of Lancaster Farm Sanctuary animal residents, and get to learn more about them and their stories. Have the chance to connect with these wonderful animals and experience their innate heart opening love.

  • Throughout the day you’ll get to learn and experience mantra and meditation- and we’ll end the evening with kirtan! Kirtan is the practice of call and response chanting, which lives at the heart of bhakti yoga.

  • A delicious, vegan catered lunch will be served by local artisans at the Lancaster Vegan Deli.

  • Togetherness is a nectar- capacity is limited to 25 attendees to help foster a more personalized experience. A wonderful opportunity to return to the joy of practicing in a group, and connecting with other spiritually oriented individuals.

“When I don’t know who I am, I serve you. When I remember who I am, I am you”

To many, Hanuman is known as the supreme embodiment of devotion. His love of Lord Rama becomes a blueprint for us to come to a deeper understanding of our own hearts. Through service, love, and devotion, in time we awaken to our own true nature.

Our retreat will be centered around Hanuman and his lilas (divine play or stories) as an inspiration for our own growing bhakti (devotion). He shows us the power of love in action, and how yoga is woven into every aspect of our lives. Known for both his mischief and maturity, his sweetness and sincerity, Hanuman is a form of the divine who is both approachable, and beloved by many.

Well known as the source of devotion for the great teacher Ram Dass, Hanuman has very much found his way into the fabric of Western spiritual practice. His stories chart a journey of growth and maturation. Starting as a rambunctious child known for causing trouble at the ashram, to one of the central figures in the Ramayana. We can see ourselves in Hanuman, and witness the possibility of our own spiritual growth and transformation.

Sharing stories and pastimes is a nectar- nurturing, sweet, and rich with sustenance. A way to not only restore our bodies, but our hearts, minds and spirits as well.

About the Yoga

You can find yoga in many different styles and approaches- with many different goals and objectives.

Together we will be practicing an approach to physical yoga that is gentle, intentional, and focused on an inward experience. Treating the body as a sacred pilgrimage, we move in ways that honor our body’s wisdom and architecture.

Our first practice of the day will include more standing postures, and as the day winds down we’ll deepen into more supine and restorative āsana.

Variations, options, and modifications are always included in classes, which makes these practices suitable for people with varying degrees of experience.
